How to Get the Police to Investigation Your Crime

Did you ever report a crime to the police to have them say there is nothing they can do about it?

Or have your reported something you were not sure was a crime and to have then thank you for reporting. They have created an information only file.

In this week's episode of Safe Realty, I discuss:

  • Two local criminal harassment (stalking) cases that the police would not investigate

  • What steps can be taken to gather evidence

  • How to get the police to be accountable and investigate your complaint, so you feel safe

If you have felt like:

  • You've been harassed

  • No one took you seriously

  • The police told you there was nothing they could do, but you felt differently

Then tune in to today's episode.

Your voice is important. Listen to learn how to help yourself and to work with the police for best results.

Finding Your Voice in Self-Defense: This is Fighting Back

In this episode, I discuss the importance of self-defense, what we now call self-protection and that it can mean something different to everyone.

I emphasize the need to listen to your intuition, your spidey senses, and to fight back when necessary.

We all didn't grow up knowing how to win a street fight, but guess what?! You don't need that to protect yourself.

I will share some personal experiences that made me realize it was okay to stick up for myself.

You will learn how to create a scene and make noise to deter potential attackers.

The conversation aims to empower listeners to take their safety seriously and equip them with practical tools for self-protection.

Let's prevent true crime. That is what this is all about, preventing true crime. We find our voices - by listening to our gut instinct, our intuition, our “spidey sense.” Self-defense is not just for women, it is for men too. And this information is for everyone, not only real estate agents, but anyone who cares about their safety.

Take care when listening to this episode as we do discuss violence and assault.

911 What is your emergency? A 911 Operator Insights into Real Estate Agent Safety

In this episode, I speak with Carolyn, a friend and seasoned 911 dispatcher. In fact, she was my emergency dispatcher at one point. Full circle moment.

What happens when you are with a client, as a real estate agent, and find yourself in dangerous situation, but unable to speak. How do you tell the 911 operator how to help you? Find out today.

As a real estate agent in an emergency, what do we do? When do we call 911? And if we call 911 what happens next?  We also talk about what constitutes an emergency (not your dinner reservations that are cancelled), how to handle accidental calls, and the technology used in dispatching. Carolyn shares humorous anecdotes from her years of experience, emphasizing the human side of dispatching and the need for patience and kindness during emergencies.

Do not order pizza as a means of a 'code' for an emergency.

Carolyn says, "when in doubt, phone."  Be kind, be patient, be clear!
